Student Spotlight

Regional School of Ballet would like to recognize Finn G. for her dedication and hard work in her dance classes.  Finn started dancing when she was six years old.  Her Grandmother asked her if she would like to have swimming or ballet lessons and Finn choose to dance.  Finn’s most memorable dance moment is when she got the part of a gingersnap in The Nutcracker.  ‘Shelly made me do 100 cartwheels a day.’

Finn is enrolled in Intermediate Advanced Ballet, Pointe 1 and Open Ballet classes and her favorite steps to do in class are sotashas, pirouettes, grande battement and second arabesque.  Finn’s goal is to be a dancer in the NYC Ballet and the dancer she admires most is Adji Cissoko.

When Finn isn’t dancing, she likes to play volleyball, the guitar and the saxophone.  She also likes to hang out with her friends, listen to Lady Gaga, Foster the People, The Beatles and The Ramones.  When asked who she looks up to and why, she said ‘Hello Kitty, it’s funny, but she’s always happy and does what she wants.’

Calling all Nutcracker Volunteers

You don’t need to be a dancer to contribute to the success of the Corvallis Community Nutcracker.  There are a number of ways that you can help over the next few months to make this year’s Nutcracker performance a success.   Tasks include costume fitting, concession & ornament sales, donation of concessions, stage hand, poster distribution, and many other areas including being a Nut Mom or Dad who helps out backstage during dress rehearsals and shows.  Check out our Volunteer Sign Up Board at the studio and find out how you can help.
