Nutcracker Updates

Choreographed by Shelly Svoboda, The Regional School of Ballet has been producing The Nutcracker for over 20 years in Corvallis, Oregon. Dancers in Corvallis and the Central Willamette area are invited to our open auditions. Each year dancers are given the opportunity to advance to more challenging roles.

This year’s performance will be December 13th and 14th. Intermediate and advanced roles require the dancer to be taking ballet lessons. Some roles also require dancers to provide specialty make up, specific types of leotards, or character shoes.

A $20 audition fee will be due at sign in. Please come early enough to sign in and warm up before your audition time.

Auditions – Saturday, Sept 28th

  • Beginning & Intermediate levels (ages 7—11) 1:15 – 2:15 pm
  • Advanced off Pointe (12 and up) 2:30 – 3:15 pm
  • *Advanced on Pointe (13 and up) 3:30 – 4:45 pm

*Pointe roles are advanced roles. Not everyone who additions on pointe will receive a pointe role and instead may be cast in an off pointe role.

Technical and Dress Rehearsals will start Tuesday December 10th at 5:00 at the Corvallis High School theater. RSB makes every effort to run rehearsals as quickly as possible, but please be prepared for some late evenings the week of the show.

A rehearsal schedule is available to review for scheduling conflicts. Rehearsal times will not be changed.

  • Dancers will only be excused from one missed rehearsal.
  • Additional rehearsals may be added for Variation roles.
  • Roles may be added, dropped or changed based upon abilities of auditioning dancers.
